History

Our history and success in the Unconventional Oil & Gas sector began in 2010. Since then we have spearheaded a multitude of global initiatives that have been closely researched with the industry to ensure that specific solutions to the current technical, strategic, and tactical challenges are being delivered.

Operations in California? Don't miss out on: California Water Management Congress 2014: Hydraulic Fracturing & Steam Generation taking place on January 29-30, 2014 California. For more information please visit: www.california-oil-water-management-2014.com/

The first Shale Water Management Canada Summit held in 2011 looked at the enormous potential of shale gas resources in Canada where E&P companies were accelerating their efforts of exploration for, and developing shale gas resources, notably in the prolific Horn River and Montney plays.

Following its successful launch event, the series continued with Shale Water Management Canada Summit 2012 bringing together Operators in Montney, Horn River, Bakken, Cardium, Viking, Duvernay and other plays who were seeking out new and innovative methods to effectively source, handle, transport, dispose  and re-use water for hydraulic fracturing to maximize their profitability of shale gas and tight oil production whilst remaining competitive in a booming market.

Last January, Oil Sands Water Management 2013 continued to build on the existing success with an agenda focused on driving forward innovative water treatment technologies to reduce capital and operating costs and maximize the efficiency of in Situ Oil Sands recovery.

This sell-out series is now returning to Calgary with a brand new agenda and learning content. This 4th Annual Summit will deliver two days of case studies on the hottest issues in Canadian water management to date, enabling attendees to:

Optimize Water Usage And Identify Optimal Treatment Techniques For Brackish And Used Water To Reduce The Percentage Of Water Disposed   In Athabasca In Situ Oil Sands Operations

LEARNING BENEFITS

Treatment of Alberta's in situ oil sands-produced water is becoming increasingly challenging...

...because of the high scaling and fouling potential and increasing requirements from Directive 081. As a result, operators are innovating recovery technologies for water usage reduction and applying the very latest used water treatment techniques to reduce the percentage of water disposed of.

The In Situ Oil Sands Water Treatment & Re-Use Optimization Congress will bring together the water treatment, facility and process experts in the oil sands operating industry to share their best practices for optimizing water usage and reducing the percentage of water disposed.

  • REDUCING DISPOSAL: How operators are optimizing and reconfiguring SAGD plants to reduce water disposal percentage and meet Directive 81 requirements
  • BRACKISH WATER USE: Analyzing sourcing solutions and the implications of brackish water use in SAGD
  • WATER QUALITY - STEAM GENERATION: Examining the feasibility of increasing PPM silica in boiler feed to reduce softening requirements and OTSG operating costs
  • RECYCLING: Assessing the operating costs and effectiveness of the latest treatment technologies being used to recycle water for steam generation - membranes, evaporators, crystallization
  • BOILER OPTIMIZATION: Assessing how to safely reduce tube fouling and pigging frequency to maximize running time and avoid extensive down time costs
  • WATER SUPPLIES: Identifying brackish and non-oil and gas industry water sources for in situ production to reduce reliance on fresh sources
  • ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: Examining techniques and initiatives for reducing GHG emissions and the overall environmental footprint of water management

The Oil Sands Water Management Series was the original event focused specifically on in-situ water use when it was first launched in 2011 and for the past 4 years, has addressed the ever-evolving issues and challenges facing in situ operators, helping to reduce costs and improve efficiencies in many Athasbasca oil sands operations.
